The Hartford is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our Employee Benefits Strategic Data Value Stream. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating and managing the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using scaled Agile frameworks and methodologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and plan Program Increment (PI) events, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt workshops.

  • Drive the synthesis of Vision, Roadmap, and Backlogs via pre/post PI Planning.

  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ARTs.

  • Encourage collaboration between teams and provide input on staffing to address critical bottlenecks.

  • Foster Communities of Practice and the use of Built-In Quality practices.

  • Help manage risks and dependencies, ensuring alignment between strategy and execution.

  • Leverage Inspect and Adapt cycles to help assess the level of Agility for the ART and foster relentless improvement.

  • Responsible for coaching and managing Scrum Masters and Senior Scrum Masters in the ARTs.

  • Maintain the financial hygiene for the ART and contribute to outlook planning.

  • Work with vendor partners for resourcing and delivery needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering or project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role with direct reports.

  • Strong technical background with expertise in Agile methodologies and practices.

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on time and within budget.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Scaled Agile frameworks using Scrum or Kanban.

  • Knowledge of the employee benefits domain and claimant experience is a plus.

  • Good change management skills and be a change agent in the teams.

  • SAFe Agile Certification 5.0 and higher is preferred.

  • Experience with cloud technologies and microservices architecture.

  • Familiarity with modern front-end and back-end development frameworks and tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$116,000 - $174,000
