IBM TBM Council Event Coordinator in Dallas, Texas

Your role and responsibilities

As the Event Coordinator, you will be instrumental in the success of the TBM Council's in-person events, culminating in our prestigious annual conference. You'll collaborate seamlessly with internal teams and external partners to plan, execute, and promote engaging events that foster a vibrant community and advance the field of TBM. In this role you will gain invaluable experience by shadowing our seasoned global events management team, assuming full ownership of event management for our flagship conference.

Event Strategy & Execution:

  • Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of all in-person TBM Council events, encompassing the annual TBM Conference (attended by 1500 Executives and Practitioners), the exclusive Board of Directors Invitational (for 100 Executives), and regional Summits in EMEA and APAC (each gathering 50-100 Executives and Practitioners).

  • Research, identify, and recommend optimal event locations, considering target audience, budget, and content objectives.

  • Develop compelling event themes and agendas in collaboration with TBM Council leadership.

  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including attendance, sponsorship, venue selection, travel arrangements, and on-site support.

  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team on all communication and promotional efforts, while providing strategic direction and oversight.

Speaker Management:

  • Identify, recruit, and manage high-quality speakers for TBM Council events.

  • Collaborate with speakers to develop compelling presentations and ensure a smooth speaker experience.

Budget & Operations:

  • Manage event budgets effectively, ensuring all costs are within approved limits.

  • Oversee the ordering, shipment, and inventory of event materials and swag.

  • Manage sponsor entitlements.

  • Gather and analyze event feedback to continuously improve the attendee experience.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in event planning and management, ideally within a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and manage successful in-person events.

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Customer-centric mindset with a focus on community building.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. The majority of your travel will be related to our annual proprietary events in the Spring and Fall.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience working with technology companies or within technical communities is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of TBM, FinOps, or related disciplines is a significant advantage.
