Description
The Patient Coordinator is responsible for greeting the patients upon entrance to the office, checking in patients for their appointments, checking out patients after their appointment. The employee should be willing to assist the patient, co-workers, and physicians as needed.
Open the office every morning (to include unlocking the doors, turning on the lights, starting up the computers) & closes the office every night
Review Phreesia dashboard and transfer all medical information from Phreesia into NextGen
Scan patient’s insurance card and driver’s license or transfer from Phreesia dashboard. If the IV benefits states “scan card”, the employee is to email the Insurance Verification group for benefits.
Responsible for collecting copayments, balances, and large amounts prior to patient being seen by the physician. Payments are collected through Phreesia.
Checks in the patient for their appointment in NextGen
Checks out the patient in NextGen and accurately schedules the next appointment as instructed by the physician on the SOAP note in EHR.
Ensures all orders for labs or radiology are complete by the MA or physician and faxed to the correct performing entity
Sends referrals to outside providers as requested by the physician
Send internal referrals for Special Procedures, MRI Fusion Biopsy, Radiation Center through EHR
Collects specimens from patients, logs, and distributes to the physician/MA.
Answers patient questions to the best of his/her ability.
Directs patient complaints or problems to the attention of the Clinic Supervisor or Practice Administrator
Ensures the front desk area is full of the following items and replenishes as needed: patient instruction sheets, urine cups, strainers, voiding diaries, physician business cards
Performs other tasks or special projects as assigned by the Practice Administrator, Supervisor, or other members of management.
Distribute faxes, scan medical records
Inter-office travel may be required per site.
Check with Administrator if any badges are required for parking, hospital security, etc.
Qualifications
High School Diploma
1-2 Years working in the healthcare field
