This job is within the American Airlines Federal Credit Union. The role is for overseeing and managing the patch and vulnerability management (PVM) processes for the Credit Union’s IT infrastructure, ensuring timely and effective patching of servers, desktops, network equipment, and other critical systems to maintain security, compliance, and operational efficiency.

What you'll do

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the Credit Union’s enterprise-wide patch and vulnerability management strategy

  • Lead a team of patch management specialists responsible for patching servers, desktops, network devices, and other IT assets

  • Ensure timely and effective deployment of patches to mitigate security vulnerabilities while minimizing business disruption

  • Work closely with Information Security, IT Infrastructure, and Application teams to prioritize patches based on risk assessment and criticality

  • Monitor industry trends, threat intelligence feeds, and vendor releases to proactively address security vulnerabilities

  • Manage enterprise patching tools, automation frameworks, and compliance reporting solutions

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track patching progress, compliance levels, and remediation timelines

  • Oversee regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts in collaboration with IT teams

  • Establish patching schedules, maintenance windows, and rollback procedures to ensure minimal impact on operations

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security frameworks, including PCI, NCUA, FFIEC, and other industry standards

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the PVM team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

  • Oversee an annual budget for patching tools, automation solutions, and team operations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Proven experience leading patch and vulnerability management programs in an enterprise environment

  • Strong knowledge of patching processes for operating systems, applications, and network devices across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments

  • Experience with patch management tools such as Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, Ivanti, BigFix, Tanium, or similar enterprise solutions

  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7

  • Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, FFIEC, and PCI-DSS

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience managing patching processes in highly regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare)

  • Knowledge of ITIL change management principles and best practices for patching in production environments

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of operating systems, networks, and enterprise security principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and reporting tools for metrics and dashboards

  • Ability to analyze vulnerability data, assess risk, and prioritize patch deployment accordingly

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including coaching and staff development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Availability for after-hours patching and emergency security updates as needed

  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance

  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
