Summary The incumbent is a working leader for housekeeping operations in all areas of the sanitation section and linen distribution section at the North Texas VA Healthcare System. Responsibilities Duties are but not limited to: The incumbent leads Housekeeping Aids, Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) and Incentive Therapy (IT) workers within the facility. He/she will lead employees in performing work while he/she performs the full range of housekeeping tasks required to maintain the Medical Center in an aesthetic and aseptic condition. The incumbent passes on instructions from the supervisor to the employees and checks work to verify the work was completed. He/she works with the employees, sets the pace, demonstrates methods and techniques, obtains supplies and equipment while answering questions and makings sure all tasks are complete and deadlines are met. He/she reports to the supervisor the status and progress of work, any infractions of policies and procedures, and assures safety rules are followed. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be physically able to do continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, pushing, stretching, pulling, and lifting. Occasionally may climb step ladders or lift or move heavy objects. The work is done where the employee can be exposed to dust, lint, disagreeable sights and odors. He/she must ensure proper use of detergents to avoid burns, skin irritation and chapped hands. The work is performed indoors but must go outside to empty trash and travel from one assignment to the other.
