Job Summary and Qualifications

Coordinates and/or performs a variety of quality data management functions to include: medical record abstraction, data entry, database maintenance and report generation, analysis and presentation of data. Additionally, the Senior Quality PI Data Coordinator provides clinical expertise necessary for the development and maintenance of meaningful data queries, data collection methods, clinical outcomes measures, reporting systems and data management infrastructures. It is the responsibility of each employee to maximize the resources of the hospital. As a member of Medical City Dallas Heart & Spine Hospital team, the employee makes a significant contribution to the public’s perception of the hospital. The employee performs all services as they may relate to patient care/treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient. The employee performs additional tasks/activities as assigned

What You Will Do In This Role

Responsible for providing PI support and leadership to various clinical and non-clinical service lines, participating in Core Measure concurrent and retrospective review, facilitating PI and Core Measure teams, and coordinating all aspects of the medical staff peer review process.

This position involves the following:

  • Identifying and coordinating activities geared toward improved patient care processes and outcomes

  • Collaborating across the organization with appropriate leaders to develop metrics, data collection methodologies

  • Provide analysis to achieve department and organizational performance improvement goals

  • Develop reports that support PI activities

  • Support patient safety program (i.e. management of sentinel events and root cause analysis, national patient safety goals, and integration of initiatives within existing programs such as NQF Safe Practices and medication safety).

  • Maintains communication with administration, medical staff and departmental leaders regarding PI activities.

  • Exercise judgment within the guidelines of the medical plan of care, department policy and licensure practice acts.

  • Expertise in quality data/peer review data abstraction, data analysis, and improvement strategies.

  • Experience in design of data collection systems.

  • Working knowledge of peer review criteria, The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Excellent collaboration and verbal, presentation, organizational and written skills.

  • Ability to facilitate and lead groups to project completion.

  • Working knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts, tools, and healthcare applications.

  • Ability to facilitate problem solving and conflict resolution techniques

What Qualifications You Will Need

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.

  • If hired after 6/1/2012 BSN required within 24 months of hire.

  • A minimum of one year experience in a similar position in an acute care facility required.

  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
