The Converting Supervisor is responsible for overall site production operations. Creates a work environment which promotes safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness. Effectively develops teams that can achieve corporate improvement objectives. Accountable for all aspects of plant production performance while ensuring objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner. Drives best practices through the organization and leads process improvement.
What you’ll do as a Converting Supervisor:
Enforce all work-related policies to include safety, security, equal opportunity, and prevention of sexual harassment.
Coordinate job orders with the department employees to meet customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery.
Responsible for meeting efficiency and utilization targets as budgeted, as well as maintaining established production standards and quality controls.
Mentor and develop leads to implement production plans as approved by the Converting Manager.
Control and optimize all material resources; Submit required documentation when there is a shortage.
Inspect converting operations to determine that they are done properly and follow quality standards.
Investigate non-chargeable time, institute changes, train personnel, and change procedures to minimize it.
Work closely with Sales, Production, and Warehouse departments in the fulfillment of converting functions.
Work with Scheduling to establish machine priorities, and when necessary, with Customer Service department on special requests to satisfy customers' demands.
Develop a maintenance program which will keep the machines clean and in good condition; coordinate mechanical, electrical and engineering efforts with machine down time and equipment needs. Implement an aggressive preventive maintenance program and transition to proactive maintenance.
Define responsibility and communicate established standards of performance of subordinates; supervise application of policies and communicate programs, practices, and procedures.
Establish and supervise training of Converting employees in the proper performance of their job to ensure safety efficiency and quality standards.
Advise and guide employees on policies affecting activities and working conditions.
Requires personal contact with other employees and company management in a positive, interpersonal manner which does not cause undue interruptions, hostility, errors, undue stress or other disruptive behavior.
Requires full attention and vigilance while on-the-job to ensure the safety of others and equipment and to ensure the quality of work.
We’re looking for a Converting Supervisor with:
3-5 years’ experience in a similar position in a medium to large size manufacturing organization.
Experience in Operations and/or Lean process.
Printing Industry experience; preferred.
SAP experience; preferred.
Ability to manage tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
Ability to supervise and communicate with employees effectively to produce quality work on schedule
Experience with ERP systems and MS Office (Excel and PPT).
Excellent communication skills.
Physical requirements and working conditions:
Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:
Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues.
Requires performing tasks standing 40%, walking 40%, and bending 20%.
Work positions include climbing 5%, kneeling 30%, and squatting 25%, with extended reach above head 20% and extended reach in front of body 20%, above 18 inches and in front 30 inches.
Lifts materials up to 40 pounds and places on workstation.
Requires handling materials weighing 40 pounds while pushing, pulling, lifting and twisting.
Works in air-conditioned environment with high noise levels.
This Converting Supervisor position is located on-site in our Dallas facility
