Job Summary and Qualifications

The Administrative Director of Clinical Education is responsible for the development, management and delivery of designated service line clinical education, including educational aspects related to nursing orientation, clinical in-service and continuing professional education. The primary goal of this position is to improve patient care, including the patient experience, through nursing and clinical staff education. The Administrative Director of Clinical Education will participate in the development of the strategy, structure, methodology and evaluation of clinical education and competency assessment that is consistent with HCA’s clinical agenda. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.

  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality educational programs to new cohorts of nurses and current staff to drive improved clinical performance.

  • Participates in the assessment of the clinical education resources and development of outstanding service line programs to support ongoing evaluation and advancing the clinical competency of staff in Medical City Healthcare.

  • Oversees the development of educational programs based on assessed needs.

  • Coordinates delivery of clinical orientation across service lines to ensure consistency of the orientation program.

  • Participates in the development of and access to simulation resources.

  • Makes recommendations on resources needed for competency assessment of clinicians.

  • Actively participates in the Continuing Education Provider Units for Nursing (ANCC).

  • Provides support for implementation of evidenced based practice findings and implements resources including Lippincott Nursing Procedure and Skills, New England Journal of Medicine and EBSCO Host.

  • Directly manages education department team members, including directors, managers, and educators.

  • Supports all clinical education efforts, but may be responsible for designated clinical specialties/clinical service lines.

  • Works collaboratively with Corporate, Division and facility leadership, and in particular nursing, human resources, leadership & organizational development, and IT&S.

What qualifications you will need:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Texas RN license.

  • National certification required within 6 months of hire, with preference in nursing executive leadership or education/staff development.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Field, Education or Healthcare Administration required.

Experience:

  • Requires minimum 8 years of experience in hospital-based clinical specialty, multiple preferred.

  • Requires an additional minimum 2 years, but 5 preferred, in education, organizational development, clinical leadership, human resources management or similar; preferably in a hospital setting.

  • History of progressive leadership positions and abilities.
