Mechanic I

Mechanic I is the entry point to the Malloy Repair Shop which is a full-service repair center for electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, blowers, and other industrial equipment. Mechanic Is serve a support role within the shop to tend and assist senior mechanics. Mechanic Is can work accurately and with a high attention to detail while being supervised. After obtaining sufficient working knowledge and experience, Mechanic Is can be promoted to Mechanic II.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Test, disassemble, clean, repair, scrape, paint, and reassemble electric motors and other industrial equipment. Noting and replacing parts as needed.
  • Understands shop flow and the ability to track time and materials accurately.
  • Inspect various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
  • Operate specialized testing equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform other functions as necessary for Mechanic II and III.
  • Ability to identify mechanical parts.
  • Understands Megger and Baker Testing of Motors.
  • Janitor clean up after shop hours.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Vocational/Tech School Preferred (not required).
  • Lifelong learner.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Safety minded.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
