UPMC Neurology Technician (part-time) - UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland, Maryland

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Part-time Neurology Technician.

This is a 20 hr/wk position that will work primarily 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; every other Saturday and will include every other Sunday and holiday rotation for on-call.

The Neurology Technician will administer and monitor various modalities for neurology evaluation.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and ensure proper care and usage of equipment and supplies. Regularly examines and perform preventative maintenance of neurology equipment to provide optimal service to the patient.

  • Perform billing through HIS.

  • Perform job functions with consideration to thoroughness, accuracy, and neatness; effect on patients and others; technical knowledge and competence.

  • Perform neurological diagnostic testing efficiently and accurately. Assist the physician in performing neurological testing.

  • Assist with the performance improvement program with data collection, opportunity identification, and recommendations.

  • Remain flexible with scheduling, organizing priorities, and accommodating department needs.

  • Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and others.

  • Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.

  • Administer, monitor, develop policies and procedures, evaluate, and recommend changes for physician prescribed neurology diagnostic procedures including, EEG, EMG, and NCV.

  • Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information with no infractions.

  • Maintain professional, pleasant, and effective communications both internally and externally.

  • Promote the hospital's image and maintain a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a healthcare center.

  • Explain the purpose and proper procedures for performing diagnostic and therapeutic services to the patient.

  • Adhere to Mission/Vision/Core Values.

  • Provide treatment and care appropriate to the ages of patients.

  • Make sound decisions based on factual information and seek guidance and direction as necessary.

  • Maintain accurate and precise records for all neurology procedures performed.

  • Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.

  • Requires completion of High school graduate or GED.

  • Previous experience is preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Licensure as a Registered EEG technologist or experience in Neurology diagnostics is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
