Wanzek Construction Installation Technician in CRYSTAL RIVER, Florida



  • Responsible working with a team in the assembly, mechanical completion, repair, maintenance and QC of Wind Turbines. In addition, Connectors may be assigned other tasks as needed during construction of wind projects including any foundation, offload or erection activity.


  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures and set a positive example for others.

  • Complete all required Safety planning and documentation

  • Climb wind turbines daily and perform all activities required to assemble and mechanically complete wind turbines.

  • Use standard hand signals and voice commands to guide crane operators in the lifting and assembly of wind turbine components

  • Ensure that turbines and related installations are assembled safely, skillfully, efficiently and meet acceptable standards of quality.

  • Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.

  • Operate, maintain and trouble-shoot issues on power and hydraulic tooling.

  • Make certain the assigned work progresses on schedule

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and installation manuals

  • Recommends measures to improve production, equipment performance and quality of product and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of process.

  • May train and mentor new workers

  • Complete required Equipment Maintenance report and Equipment/Materials transfer reports

  • Complete required QA/QC documentation

  • Preplanning daily activities and monitoring tasks

  • Monitor small tooling maintenance and storage and site materials

  • Required to travel to different jobsites on a limited notice


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Tower Rescue Training

  • Wanzek Climb training

  • Rigger and Signalperson

  • LOTO

  • Tool Drop

  • Confined Space


  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles

  • Trained and certified in tower rescue

  • Rigger and Signalperson training required (preferably NCCCO or equivalent)

  • Must possess excellent mechanical skills and attention to detail

  • Read WTG installation manuals, drawings and schematics skillfully

  • Ability to work well under pressure and work within timelines

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs

  • Ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
