Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Assist the Plant Controller in all aspects of financial reporting, standard cost development and maintenance, monthly forecast development, annual budget development, and ad hoc cost studies for managers at the plant and division level.

Job Description

Serve as the backup for the controller. Lead the Capital Expenditure actual, forecast and budget processes, and participate in the Capital Expenditure Request/Approval process. Serve as the primary plant recipient for Basware invoices that need coding or other actions. Develop in all aspects of the finance function at the plant and suggest process improvements. Manage and develop the Office Coordinator in all aspects of plant financial reporting, and administration building upkeep and supply needs. Serve as the backup to the Office Coordinator for daily production, shipments, and inventory reporting.

Major Challenges:

To develop and maintain a working knowledge of plant operations to ensure that inventory and cost systems are relevant, accurate and revised as necessary to provide reliable management information.

To be an integral member of a multi-functional team this will require a knowledge base of several functional areas. As a team member, be involved in finance, product development, research and development, sales and marketing, engineering, operations, information technology and human resources.

While being involved in several cross-functional teams, must work with the Plant Controller to ensure the day-to-day accounting responsibilities are satisfied. Must have excellent skills in leading, training, and delegation.

To develop timely and accurate business reports used in significant business decisions.

To manage information flow assuring timely and accurate reporting and providing Plant Manager and others with financial data necessary to operate an efficient and profitable business.

Be able to communicate with all levels of employees.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge/Skills:

Individual should be knowledgeable in all areas of finance, general accounting, managerial and cost accounting, manufacturing operations, local and state taxation, auditing, capital budgeting, financial analysis, business reporting, information technology, and all corporate policies and procedures.

A four-year degree in Accounting or Financial Management from an accredited university or college is required. Experience in cost accounting in a process manufacturing environment would be a plus. Strong analytical skills and be able to communicate to those without a financial background.
