POSITION SUMMARY

For more than 80 years, we’ve led the charge in revolutionizing pet food production and its ability to enrich the lives of pets everywhere. By 1956, through innovative engineering, we literally reshaped pet care, introducing Dog Chow® as the first extruded dry food. We’re still at it today, with Tidy Cats®, the lightweight cat litter champion of the world and Pro Plan Bright Mind®, a breakthrough formula with enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in aging dogs. Such leadership requires constant innovation and renovation, which is so often rooted in engineering.

As the Factory Engineering Manager, you will manage the Engineering, Controls, and Facility Maintenance functions to ensure efficient operation of the plant. You will be responsible for the effective and timely delivery of services and expertise in the areas of construction, management and implementation of the capital budget, utilities generation and distribution, process improvement, maintenance, and miscellaneous support and services in support of the plant operations.

  • Team Development for Engineering and Controls

  • Set the direction for Controls and Engineering team by providing the leadership, support, and training necessary for the development of each team member as a valued and critical resource.

  • Establish standards of measurements for the Engineering and Controls Department performance and administer performance appraisals for all department members.

  • Develops short and long-range goals of the Engineering and Controls Department.

  • Capital Projects

  • Collaborate and involvement in the development, implementation, and coordination of the capital budget to improve and maintain equipment and facilities.

  • Inspect and advises on all areas of the plant for equipment design, evaluation, and troubleshooting.

  • Involvement in the installation of new equipment and/or modification/rearrangement of existing equipment.

  • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and performance of assigned projects.

  • Sustainability Improvements

  • Responsible for plant energy cost and efficiency as well as the research and implementation of projects and programs to continually reduce energy cost and improved utilization.

  • Responsible for the maintaining of all pollution control devices.

  • Responsible for the coordination of the operation of steam generating, electrical power service, compressed gases, water, sewer, HVAC, process liquids, plant – wide lighting, buildings, grounds, and fire protection systems to provide uninterrupted service.

  • Coordinate with the safety team to implement safety suggestions to provide a safe atmosphere for the total plant.

  • Participate in the negotiation of utility contracts in line with plant needs.

  • Responsible for the review and approval of equipment purchase orders, contract service orders and plant service agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or a related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, including project management and people leadership within a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment.

The approximate pay range for this position is $114,000.00 to $156,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
