National Park Service IT Specialist (CustSpt) in Cornish Flat, New Hampshire

Summary This position is located in Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, in the Administration Division. This is a permanent full-time position with promotion potential to the GS-11 level. GS-07 salary range: $57,913 - $75,289 GS-09 salary range: $68,272 - $88,752 Open to the first 100 applicants or until 05/06/2024 whichever comes first. Responsibilities This position is duty stationed in Cornish, New Hampshire, at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park. The position supports employees located at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Park in Cornish, NH; Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Woodstock, Vermont; Springfield Armory National Historic Site in Springfield, Massachusetts; Coltsville National Historical Park in Hartford, Connecticut and Weir Farm National Historical Park in Wilton, CT. Travel between the parks is expected 1-4 days per month. Provides assistance and support for assignments and projects relative to the delivery of customer support services. Assists higher-graded specialists in identifying and resolving issues and problems as they arise. At this developmental level assists others by performing specific tasks associated with the following: Diagnoses and resolves problems in response to customer reported incidents; reports, responds to and resolves customer requests; installs, configures, and tests software and hardware for customers; interacts with customers to identify issues and troubleshoot problems. Participates in the planning and delivery of a full range of customer support IT services and evaluates effectiveness of support services. Presents formal and informal training, guidance and assistance to customers; provides advice and guidance to customers requesting information on policies and procedures. Updates and maintains support ticketing/tracking systems to track and identify customer needs. Assists with development of specifications, work statements, and evaluation criteria for procurements and/or financial assistance awards for IT, radios, telephones, and other equipment. The position is located in Cornish, New Hampshire, which is a rural area. The nearest community is Windsor, Vermont, which is three miles away. Windsor has a population of approximately 3,500 and amenities such as a hospital, churches, restaurants, stores, transportation, etc. Larger nearby communities include Lebanon, NH (11 miles north) and Claremont, NH (10 miles south). Lebanon and Claremont both have all standard services and amenities. Hanover, NH, home of Dartmouth College, is a college town with a variety of amenities. Woodstock, Vermont, is located approximately 25 minutes from Cornish. Woodstock is a picturesque New England village with a historic downtown area. Temperatures in the area range from -10 F to +40 F in the winter and +50 F to +95 F in the summer. Precipitation is approximately 35 inches annually. Saint-Gaudens NHP, New Hampshire's only national park consists of 190 acres including the home (Aspet), gardens, and studios of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907). As one of America's foremost sculptors, he is best known for his public monuments including the Sherman and Farragut monuments in New York City, the Shaw Memorial in Boston, MA, the Standing and Seated Lincoln Memorials in Chicago, IL, as well as the 1907 ten and twenty dollar gold coins and over 100 portrait reliefs. Aspet was his summer residence from 1885-1897, and his permanent home from 1900 until his death in 1907. In partnership with the Saint-Gaudens Memorial, the site promotes the arts through exhibitions, special events, and programs as a living tribute to the sculptor. Located in Cornish, New Hampshire, the site is one of only two national parks dedicated to a visual artist. There are two hiking trails that explore the park's natural areas. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments. Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You may be required to travel overnight away from home 1-4 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-05/06/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes providing assistance and support in coordinating customer support activities sufficient to receive, respond to and ensure complete resolution of desktop computer issues; providing routine advice, guidance and training related to software, IT systems or equipment to enhance customer knowledge, as well as to prevent recurring help desk inquiries; -AND- must show proficiency related to Attention to Detail; Customer Service; Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 1 full year of graduate level education, -OR- I possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in computer science, information systems management, information science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree field that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above AND meet the criteria for Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) as evidenced by one of the three following methods: I am in the upper third of my graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR I have a GPA 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum, or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in my major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR I am a member in one of the national scholastic honor societies. Physical Demands/Working Conditions: The work is primarily sedentary; however, some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with customer site visits, travel, and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. The work may also involve carrying light item, such as papers, books, or small parts; lifting, with assistance, various pieces of IT equipment such as computers, components, and printers; or driving a motor vehicle. The work does not require special physical effort. Work is typically performed in an office setting where typical risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions occur; however, work may occur in research facilities or industrial and/or maintenance areas that may require the use of hardhats, hearing protection, or other protective equipment. The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
