Job Overview:

Qualcomm is in search of a distinguished Senior Staff Enterprise Technology Architect specializing in cloud solutions architecture and site reliability engineering (SRE). This strategic role is central to designing and implementing a resilient, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure that supports Qualcomm's ambitious technological and business goals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud architecture, a proven track record in building and maintaining highly reliable systems, and the vision to innovate and optimize our cloud infrastructure and operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Architect and lead the development of Qualcomm’s cloud infrastructure strategy, ensuring it supports and accelerates business objectives while maximizing efficiency and reliability.

  • Design, implement, and optimize cloud solutions across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to achieve best-in-class performance, scalability, and security.

  • Champion the adoption of site reliability engineering practices within the organization, establishing a balance between feature velocity and reliability of our services.

  • Work closely with application development, network, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud services.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plan for cloud-based systems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge cloud technologies and methodologies, including serverless computing, container orchestration, and infrastructure as code (IaC).

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency, and innovation within the technology architecture team and across IT functions.

  • Provide expert guidance and mentoring to team members and stakeholders on cloud solutions architecture and site reliability engineering best practices.

  • Conduct regular system audits, performance monitoring, and capacity planning exercises to ensure our cloud infrastructure meets current and future demands.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • At least 10 years of experience in technology architecture with a significant focus on cloud computing and site reliability engineering.

  • Profound expertise in designing, deploying, and managing applications and infrastructure on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Solid understanding of SRE principles, including automation, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and incident management.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead complex technology projects from conception to completion.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, capable of driving innovation and change within the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Google Cloud Professional Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).

  • ArchiMate 3 Practitioner Certification.

  • Experience with implementing and managing large-scale, global cloud infrastructures in a highly regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies and SRE methodologies.

  • Proven track record of improving system reliability and performance through the implementation of SRE practices.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required.

  • A Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 7+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

9+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 20 lbs.
