SUNSET DAIRY INC. General Farm/Irrigation Worker (temporary) in CORINNE, Utah

Temporary Need: 04/19/24-10/15/24. Three (3) full-time, seasonal, temporary Farm/Irrigation Workers needed. Requirements: Applicants must provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify performance. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid drivers license as driving on public roads may be required. Be able to lift and carry 100 lbs. Location: Work will be performed in Corrine, Utah. Will work 54 hrs/wk, Mon-Sat. 6:00am - 4:00pm. Workers may work varying shifts such as 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Work hours may vary and there may be periods when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of the cropping program. Wage is $16.63/hr. Duties: Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of alfalfa, wheat, and silage corn. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to irrigation. Flood Irrigation duties will include the following responsibilities: lift gate in side of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water to flow into bordered section of field; shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment or cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow; close gate in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded; open gate or connect pipe to underground pipe system that releases water flow into reservoir or ditch; siphon water from flooded reservoir or ditch to channel water into designated areas; shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water; mix and apply proper solutions to fill holes/cracks in pipes, ditches, and spillways, and make minor repairs to metal, concrete, and wooden frameworks in pipe and ditch valves and gates; remove pipes/lines from storage and lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields. General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from field; perform general cleanup of farm areas; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers. Terms and conditions of employment: Will work in extreme temperatures, working in hot, dry, dusty, cold, sometimes wet and snowy conditions according to weather. Tools, room, board, kitchen facilities and transportation provided at no cost to workers. Must be able to provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer. Subsistence costs will be paid at the daily rate of $15.88 per each 24-hour period of time that the worker is in travel status. A workers entitlement to reimbursement for reasonable subsistence costs in excess of the daily rate per day shall be limited to actual expenses not exceeding $59.00 per day, based on receipts. The worker must produce receipts from commercial food establishments showing the amount spent for any food and non-alcoholic beverages, including tax. When required, transportation between the employer-provided housing and the work site will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker. The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage that is issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest rate). This job is in connection with a future H-2A labor certification application.
