The Industrial Engineer supports the Coralville Top Level team executing process improvement actions across impacting quality and cost. The Top Level team manufactures and tests multiple products but primary programs include MAPS, F15/F18 HUD, and UAS product lines. This role will be responsible for resolving recurring workmanship and component defects throughout the manufacturing process as well as creating and implementing new tooling and fixtures to improve the reliability and repeatability of our build processes. Various new equipment pursuits and deployment will be a key project to improve the performance if the team through both cost and quality.

This role will be performed ONSITE in our Collins Aerospace location in Coralville, IA.

  • May be eligible for relocation

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Factory transition of MAPS (Mounted Assured PNT System) product build and test to Coralville. This will include assembly kitting, route step configurations, facility layout, and equipment implementation. Continued growth of the area is expected through 2027

  • In addition to the transition of MAPS product this position will support the New Product Introduction teams with ACE V, and GS111R in collaboration with the engineering support team in Sterling, VA.

  • Setup and Implementation of Direct Line Kitting for UAS products.

  • Top Level facility layout changes post-BAE move to create a better process flow for all products within the facility for build and test as well as a new Conformal Coat and CRG Processing area.

  • Coordinate with facilities and maintenance to more efficiently utilize existing infrastructure post-BAE move to reduce overhead costs for the facility. Relocating test equipment requiring chilled water to consolidate utilities.

  • Programming and support of ONYX-29 BGA Repair machine for MAPS rework and repair of UAS products.

  • Smart Torque, Selective Solder, Automated Underfill capital pursuit, project planning and implementation.

  • Other Daily functions to support:

  • Product line support for F15/F18 HVPS, UAS, MAPS, and Core Tanker Products including special tooling identification and design, support of design obsolescence, product quality assurance, manufacturing process training and support.

  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation of manufacturing defects.

  • Machine troubleshooting and support.

  • Create and modify conformal coat masking templates to improve process flow.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD software

  • Lean problem solving

  • Electronics Manufacturing Experience

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
