Distribution Center Performance Manager - ( 2103SI )

JOB SUMMARY

The Distribution Center Performance Manager will develop Distribution Center (DC) performance goals and monitor performance statistics at all levels. Review and monitor all cost lines on the income statement for efficiency opportunities and make recommendations for improvement. Assist and support Distribution Centers to meet performance expectations. Provide training to management within the Distribution Centers on policies, procedures and business fundamentals as well as provide preparation and guidance for Internal Audits. Serve as a liaison between the DC’s and General Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Analyze various reports to identify areas of performance improvement for Distribution Center operations. Assist managers in controlling cost through a daily review of key performance metrics. Work and support the sales team by providing analysis and problem resolution. Review Vital Signs daily for key performance trends and cost saving opportunities.

  2. Provide training and support to Distribution Centers to ensure procedural compliance. Perform audits to test compliance and as preparation for the Internal Audit. Assist all levels of management on proper application of policy and established procedures.

  3. Assist Area Directors of Operations and DC Managers in identifying areas for operational improvement. Work with specific terminals to implement best practices and improved work methods. Support quality efforts and customer service across all levels of the operations with focus on continuous improvement.

  4. Serve as a liaison between the DC’s and General Office. Provide assistance with communication and implementation of new programs, policies and procedures. Provide suggestions and input to General Office departments on changes to existing policies, programs and procedures.

  5. Prepare and analyze budgets. Monitor performance against budget, analyze variances for key trends and develop action plans for deficient areas. Assist and support the Distribution Centers within depth analysis, reporting, and diagnostics to evaluate performance trends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  2. Comprehensive knowledge of procedures, dock productivity, P&D productions, cost control, OS&D functions.

  3. Field experience exercising working knowledge of all duties performed in daily operations.

  4. Demonstrated analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.

  5. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  6. Proficient with MS Office including Excel and Powerpoint. This is a must.

  7. Ability and willingness to travel at least 50%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Two (2) or more years’ experience as Terminal Manager or equivalent.

  2. LTL operations or operations audit experience.

  3. Experience in sales, distribution center and/or linehaul operations.

  4. Knowledge of general office departments and functions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to spend long hours standing while using office equipment and computers. Occasionally sit. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
