Navistar, Inc. Product Development Associate Lead in Commerce City, Colorado

Position Overview

Navistar International Corporation is a leading North American truck manufacturer with great products, a strong market position and best-in-class distribution networks. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Product Development Associate Lead to join our team at our vehicle test location in Commerce City, CO near Denver.

The Product Development Associate Lead will provide day to day leadership in a shop environment and work hands-on prototype commercial vehicles. This will be a lead role providing guidance and direction. The role will work cross functionally with engineering teams and technicians to perform mechanical maintenance on vehicles and assist with other projects as needed. Engineering activities may include repairs, fabrication, testing and diagnose mechanical or electrical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Establish schedules and work orders for daily shop operations.

  • Responsible for maintaining and ordering shop equipment and supplies necessary for operations

  • Diagnoses mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures using established procedures

  • Performs maintenance, and assists with testing and calibration of class 4 to 8 commercial trucks

  • Perform Federal Annual Inspections

  • Provide hands-on support to engineering teams on development of specialty projects including pre-production concepts

  • Use problem solving skills to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Documents observations in reports

  • Communicate with in-person and remote staff on the status of the projects

  • Use Microsoft Office or other programs for assignments

  • May communicate with field-based technicians for details helpful to failure diagnostics or repair, but generally without direct client contact

  • Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree

  • At least 6 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

OR

  • At least 8 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Prior lead experience in a shop setting.

  • Previous mechanic experience involving truck and engine assembly, repair, and fabrication

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Some fabrication and/or welding experience

  • Vehicle experience that includes some of the following: commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, agriculture vehicles, and/or passenger vehicles

  • Experience with EV (electric vehicles)

  • Experience with International/Cummins/Allison/Eaton/Duramax

  • Training/Education as a Truck mechanic, as a Diesel Engine mechanic

  • Knowledge of multimeter and/or module programming

  • Prior dealership or fleet service experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint

Benefits and Compensation

Navistar provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $72K - 90K a year.
