Amergis Sterile Processing Technician in Columbus, Ohio
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible fordecontamination, assembly of linen packs, operation of steam, ETO and otherforms of sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains adequateinventory for assembly of instruments and equipment and performs multiple tasksthat assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsiblefor customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Extensive knowledge regarding processes used in thedecontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging ofmedical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, linen, instrumentsand equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterileand functioning supply of materials
Prepares trays for designated areas according to prescribedprocedures
Wraps and/or packages items for specified areas according toprocedures prescribed for designated areas
Must be able to operate bar code instrument tracking system
Works with operating room personnel to ensure specialtytrays are handled in the prescribed manner
Dissembles, cleans, assembles and tests specialtyinstrumentation and equipment for proper functioning
Must be able to differentiate between single-use andreusable items
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials to includedocumenting usage, issuing, receiving and reordering as assigned
Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent?
Certification as required by state regulations or contractspecifications?
Certification for sterile processing technicians by theInternational Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management(IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution(CBSPD) may be required
One (1) year of experience in sterile processing preferred?
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
