This involves a deep understanding of networking protocols to facilitate seamless connectivity across our vast infrastructure.
A significant aspect of your work will involve managing and expanding metro fabrics, which are essential for local performance. This includes the configuration and optimization of optical networks, enabling high-speed data transmission over long distances. Additionally, you'll oversee external connectivity, managing Edge devices to establish reliable connections with external partners and services.
As a key player in our team, you'll lead the way in network migrations, ensuring our infrastructure remains cutting-edge. This process requires meticulous planning and execution to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth transition to the latest technology and security standards. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining the network's stability during these critical phases.

Responsibilities
As a Network Scaling Engineer, you will embark on a diverse range of responsibilities, each contributing to the overall health and evolution of our network infrastructure. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the network's smooth operation and its ability to adapt to changing demands.
You'll actively participate in the network lifecycle, from initial builds to upgrades, collaborating closely with project managers to define and execute strategic milestones. This involves not only following established procedures but also developing new ones to address evolving challenges. As a technical lead, you'll guide your team through these projects, sharing your expertise and mentoring junior engineers.
Your input will be invaluable in shaping the network's roadmap, contributing to the development of new features and enhancements. This includes designing network solutions and architectures, ensuring they align with our long-term goals. You'll also be responsible for creating and updating runbooks, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and standardization.
Operational excellence is a key focus. Your troubleshooting skills will be critical in break-fix scenarios, and you'll lead post-event analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Automation is at the heart of our efficiency. You'll collaborate with automation teams to develop and integrate tools, streamlining network management. Your scripting skills, particularly in Python, will be utilized to automate routine tasks, freeing up resources for more complex challenges. As an SME, you'll guide software development projects related to network automation, ensuring they meet our high standards.
Vendor management is another crucial aspect. You'll work closely with network vendors to address software bugs and drive resolutions, ensuring our systems are stable and secure. This includes collaborating with vendor technical teams and our internal QA to qualify new firmware and operating systems.
The technical requirements for this role are demanding but essential. We seek extensive experience in large-scale networking, particularly with commodity Ethernet hardware and core protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and TCP/IP. Proficiency in various networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, and DHCP, is critical. Experience with Internet peering and automation scripting, preferably Python, is highly valued.
Additionally, we require knowledge of network modeling, security design, and system performance testing. Your understanding of data flow, telemetry, and their application in large-scale environments will be beneficial. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as you'll influence roadmap decisions and convey complex ideas effectively.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact, driving our network's growth and reliability while staying at the forefront of networking technology.
