Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and will lead or support design efforts related to new product development projects, through all phases of the project lifecycle including definition, conceptualization, design execution/ documentation, design verification, and production release.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering efforts to design, fabricate, integrate, test, debug, and implement rugged electronic systems.

  • Reverse engineer electronic circuits and systems.

  • Develop product design requirements and system architecture.

  • Develop analog and digital circuit designs for subsystems or systems based upon requirements.

  • Contribute to project planning and engineering resource management.

  • Complete projects and tasks within budget and schedule, reporting results and progress in written and oral communications to project leadership and clients.

  • Generate appropriate design documentation and technical reports.

  • Lead or support brainstorming activities to investigate unusual design challenges and apply state-of-the-art technology to their solutions.

  • Be an advocate for continual process improvement and technology initiatives, and a mentor to junior staff and interns.

  • Written communications in a structured, regulated environment.

  • Verbal presentations to management, clients, and vendors, will also visit client sites as needed.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 8 years of experience or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5-7 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field.

  • US Citizenship is required and must have active secret clearance.

  • Working effectively independently, as a task leader, or as a member of a project team.

  • Experience with integration of hardware and software/firmware systems.

  • Reverse engineering experience related to electrical design.

  • Working knowledge of the product design process, electronic manufacturing processes, and design documentation requirements.

  • Experience with analog, digital, and electro-mechanical circuits and components, which may include power regulators, FETs, LEDs, LCDs, microprocessors, FPGAs, relays, switches, solenoids, sensors, etc.

  • Creative problem-solving skills backed by general knowledge of the most recent technological solutions, tools, and components.

  • Experience with PC-based analysis and simulation tools.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who works well within a team.

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills to support interaction with cross-functional team members, internal management, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master degree and 8-10 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience in task management, planning, and leading electrical design activities and integration.

  • Familiarity with Altium ECAD tools and methods.

  • Experience with computer languages such as C, C++, Python, VHDL.

  • Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including USB, I2C, LVDS, RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and/or Wi-Fi.

  • Familiarity with military qualification standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-704.

  • Experience using structured methodologies and analysis techniques such as simulation packages, tolerance analysis, experimental design, and evaluation.
