Summary of Duties:
Coordinates and conducts research on modeling and model-based control of large-scale nonlinear systems focusing on electrochemical storage systems, energy conversion processes and energy distribution systems; designs and implements experiments for validation and optimization of experimental designs for model identification; applies principles of model order reduction to develop computationally-fast models; applies principles of optimal control for the optimization of the operation of the systems; prepares and presents paper/reports; writes, edits and/or approves progress and technical reports for sponsors; edits research results for publication and presentation; assists in identifying, writing and preparing proposals to pursue new funding opportunities; plans and coordinates meetings with industrial partners; conducts internal and external research meetings; schedules and oversees graduate student support on related projects.

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; considerable experience in state-of-the-art development in the area of model order reduction, optimization and solution of partial differential equations; proficiency with engineering software for mathematical simulation (Matlab/Simulink) and control platform (dSpace, ETAS, microcontrollers); experience in model-based control and modeling design in Matlab/Simulink.
Doctoral degree with specialization in model order reduction; experience with control theory, particularly optimal control and nonlinear control; experience with designing experimental setups for validation of models and control algorithms.
Target Salary: $60,000.00 - $68,000.00 Annually
