Pay to commensurate with experience The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing basic supportive care to specified patients/families under the direction and supervision of an RN/Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults. Why Nationwide Children's Hospital? Responsibilities -Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary. -Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. -Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record. -Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. -Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. -Preps all materials and supplies as needed. -Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information. -Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained. -Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. -Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. -Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff. -Responsible for the transport of non-controlled medications from Pharmacy to designated licensed healthcare practitioners at their discretion or from tube system to secured medication storage room Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure: State Tested Nursing Assistant strongly preferred. Certifications: Current CPR (BLS for healthcare provider required). Skills: 1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. 2. Demonstrated basic computer skills. 3. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patie
