Job Title: Construction Material TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Construction Material Technician to perform comprehensive testing and inspection services for various projects, including private, state, county, and ODOT projects. The role involves on-site testing of materials such as concrete, soil, aggregates, asphalt, and steel to ensure compliance with project specifications. The technician will also be responsible for daily documentation of test results and field activities, and direct communication with owners' representatives, project managers, contractors, and other on-site personnel. This position requires a flexible schedule, with early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, and reinforcing steel.

  • Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county, local roadway, and bridge projects as well as municipal utility or infrastructure projects.

  • Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals.

  • Verify plan quantities and calculations with as-bid plans, prepare and maintain project records and reports.

  • Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of status updates or non-conforming work.

  • Prepare and maintain project records and reports, performing other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction, concrete, and construction inspection.

  • Proficiency in concrete testing and nuclear density testing.

  • Hold ACI certification and experience in construction materials testing.

  • Knowledge of ODOT, NICET, soil testing, and nuclear gauge operations.

  • Civil engineering expertise and familiarity with NETTCP standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Possession of a relevant degree in Engineering, Construction, Geology, or related fields OR equivalent construction materials testing experience.

  • High school diploma is required.

  • Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

  • Must be willing and able to work a variable schedule including early mornings, occasional weekends, and overnight shifts as necessary.

  • Construction material testing/inspection certifications such as ACI, Nuclear Gauge, NICET, and NETTCP certifications are advantageous.

Work Environment

This position is 100% field-based on a large data center project near Columbus, OH. The role offers the unique opportunity to become a part of an employee-owned company, with potential for investment in the firm upon direct hire. Comprehensive training and support for obtaining necessary certifications (such as ACI, NICET, Nuclear Gauge) will be provided. Candidates with a relevant degree but no prior experience are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
