Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

Develop quality procedures according to customer requirements and process specifications. Develop and maintain sampling plans using recognized statistical methods. Determine measurable quality improvement plans. Prepare reports and make recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data. Monitor, test, and inspect products to meet specified standards. Review customer and engineering drawings for identification of key characteristics and critical items. Participate on Change Board and MRB Board. Participate in FAIs. Perform and lead internal audits to ensure readiness for external audits. Perform and lead root cause analysis to identify causes and specify appropriate preventive actions. Prepare and maintain quality records. Assist the Quality Director in implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System. Ensure compliance of QMS to external standards including AS9100 and Nadcap. Develop training to enhance quality awareness, processes, and customer satisfaction. Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct supplier quality audits. Support Quality Inspectors ensuring compliance with processes and procedures. Provide support to operations and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Military and Aerospace Standards: Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-1276, and other industry-specific standards governing electrical and cable assemblies in the military/aerospace sectors.

  • Quality Assurance Expertise: Proven experience in quality control and assurance processes, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Wire and Cable Assembly Design: Familiarity with the design, manufacture, and testing of wire and cable assemblies, including connectors, terminations, and harnesses used in aerospace and military applications.

  • Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation: Experience in troubleshooting electrical failures and performing root cause analysis to determine failure modes and implement corrective actions.

  • Inspection & Testing Techniques: Proficiency in non-destructive testing (NDT), electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, hipot), and visual inspections of wire and cable assemblies.

  • Document Control & Record Keeping: Experience in managing and reviewing technical documentation, including test reports, quality audits, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

  • Process Improvement: Experience in process optimization and continuous improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) to improve product quality, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Supplier Quality Management: Familiarity with managing supplier quality, conducting audits, and evaluating vendor performance for compliance with aerospace and military standards.

  • Knowledge of Electrical Components: Understanding of electrical components such as connectors, terminations, and shielding used in wire and cable assemblies in military aerospace applications.

  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all work adheres to relevant safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.

  • Cross-functional Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues and ensure that products meet specifications and customer expectations.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and generating reports related to quality metrics, defect trends, and product performance.

  • Familiarity with Industry Tools: Experience with quality management software, CAD systems, and testing tools commonly used in the military and aerospace industries (e.g., PLM, ERP systems, or CAM tools).

  • Auditing & Certification Experience: Knowledge of internal and external audit processes, and the ability to manage or participate in audits required for AS9100, ISO 9001, or other aerospace certifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor's degree.

  • Experience with electrical, electronics, wire harness, electronic assembly.

  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection, aerospace defense.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
