Oracle Principal Data Engineer in Columbia, South Carolina

Job Description

This role supports SaaS Cloud Security GRC program by designing and implementing data-driven solutions to enhance risk visibility, automate reporting, and drive strategic security decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in cybersecurity risk metrics, data analytics, automation, and cloud security frameworks, with a strong background in data engineering and visualization tools.

This role will work across different SaaS and OCI functions to ensure security risk data is efficiently ingested, processed, and visualized to support Oracle’s SaaS Cloud Security initiatives.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Data Engineering & Integration:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to automate the collection, transformation, and storage of cybersecurity risk data.

  • Integrate data from multiple security tools and systems (e.g., SIEMs, vulnerability management platforms, asset management, incident management databases) using APIs, ETL pipelines, and cloud-based data solutions.

  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security in compliance with Oracle’s security policies.

  • Cybersecurity Risk & Compliance Metrics:

  • Develop and automate cybersecurity risk metrics (e.g., Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)) and dashboards for security leadership and other audiences.

  • Leverage SQL, Python, and cloud-native data processing tools to extract insights from large security datasets.

  • Optimize the storage and retrieval of security data for efficient querying and visualization.

  • Dashboard & Reporting Automation:

  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards in Oracle Analytics to provide real-time insights into security risks and compliance trends.

  • Develop self-service reporting solutions to reduce manual reporting efforts for cybersecurity teams.

  • Security & Compliance Frameworks Alignment:

  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives by mapping risk and security data to industry standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, FedRAMP, SOC 2, and HIPAA.

  • Work with security teams to automate control validation and compliance evidence collection.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with cybersecurity, risk, audit, and IT teams to ensure data-driven security decision-making.

  • Translate complex security and compliance data into clear, executive-level insights for stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and data processing frameworks (e.g., Pandas, Spark).

  • Experience with cloud data engineering (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS, GCP, Azure) and data storage solutions (e.g., Oracle DB, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).

  • Hands-on experience with API integration, ETL pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, DBT, Informatica).

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics).

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and platforms (e.g., SIEM, vulnerability scanners, compliance management tools).

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX

Cybersecurity GRC Knowledge:

  • Understanding of risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOX, FedRAMP).

  • Experience with cybersecurity risk metrics, reporting, and control automation.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field.

  • 3-7 years of experience in data engineering, cybersecurity analytics, or GRC automation.

  • CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIPP or other relevant cybersecurity certification a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
