The Systems Engineer III is responsible for leading the design and implementation of highly complex solutions according to existing IT infrastructure standards and vendor best practices. The Systems Engineer III will work with Technical Lead and Solution Architect to define new standards and best practices. The Systems Engineer III works on new and difficult technologies; leading the effort in driving delivery. This role contributes specialized knowledge across the breadth of the solution design process and can take on tasks outside of their area of specialization. The Systems Engineer III acts as third-tier support within the Enterprise Operations group to resolve production incidents, lead root cause analysis, and identify corrective actions. The Systems Engineer III provides advance guidance to other team members on technical matters related to their specializations, and may include focused product research and analysis when required. The Systems Engineer III will act as a thought leader for their core technical competencies as well as bring their diverse experience on all technical and operational disciplines to provide direction across the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Application Team to design and implement projects

  • Creates and maintains configuration artifacts for their respective technologies and takes a holistic view of these documents in relation to the Configuration Management and Application Lifecycle disciplines

  • Defines Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and best practices for their respective technologies

  • Adheres to Information Security policies ensuring technical documents are created and available

  • Provides input into departmental standards under guidance of the Technical Lead

  • Creates Knowledge Base Articles (KBA's) for their respective technologies and conducts training for other team members

  • Conducts capacity planning and identifying proactive maintenance on their respective technologies and services to ensure service delivery

  • Applies a rigorous troubleshooting methodology and often leads large-scale cross-team troubleshooting efforts. Ensures these approaches are distributed and incorporated across the team members

  • Contributes in the development of automated repeatable scripts and orchestration

  • Focuses on supporting automation of operations processes and data collection for security compliance audits, capacity forecasting and performance monitoring

  • Contributes to the architecture peer review process

  • Provides after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance

  • Contributes to the modernization of the Amgeris infrastructure strategy by helping evaluate, implement, and manage cloud based infrastructure and moving toward a more hybrid data center strategy

  • Interacts with customers and staff at the technical level, as required

  • Works with Enterprise Architecture in evaluating technologies that best fit Amergis systems infrastructure strategies

  • Take on and lead large tasks and responsibilities that are within or closely related to their areas of knowledge as it relates to special projects or resolving difficult technical issues

  • Regularly engages in continual learning on their own time for their continued professional development

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area or 12-15 years of experience in the field

  • Twelve (12) years of direct experience with Microsoft products, to include Windows Server and Exchange Server, as well as Active Directory

  • MCSE or similar certifications are preferred. Certifications or specialized training in a particular discipline is a plus (i.e. Virtualization, Security, Storage, Cloud etc.)

  • Experience supporting and working with Software Development Lifecycle (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps), Project Management Lifecycle, and IT Service Management (ITIL) processes

  • Direct leadership experience with a broad range of technologies and concepts listed below, have lead the delivery of projects for these technologies, and demonstrated advanced technical knowledge as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in several of these areas

  • Server and Storage hardware (Cisco, NetApp, Pure Storage)

  • Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Platform Services

  • Microsoft O365 Identity, Messaging, and Collaborative Service

  • Operations Automation Including Scripting Languages (Powershell, Python, BASH, etc.) and Interacting with REST APIs

  • Microsoft Windows Server platforms and services (DNS, DHCP, PKI)

  • System Management (Microsoft Systems Center, SolarWinds, SCCM)

  • Virtualization and Cloud (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, Azure)

  • Identity and Access Management (Active Directory, FIM/MIM, SSO/ADFS, Centrify)

  • Enterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery (Rubrik, Zerto)

  • Enterprise Messaging (Exchange, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Lync)

  • System Security (DLP, vulnerability assessment and remediation, Anti-Virus, Host-based Firewall)

  • Web Server platforms (IIS, Apache, SharePoint, F5 Load Balancers)

  • Proactively identifies risks and issues and drives them to resolution

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
