Amentum Systems Administrator (Linux)- TS/SCI in Columbia, Maryland

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains smooth operation of Linux-based systems, including coordination with network and systems engineers.

  • Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.

  • Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.

  • Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software.

  • Interacts with users. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.

  • Interact with customers to handle service inquiries and problems.

  • Provide support to the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Distinguish isolated user problems from enterprise-wide application/system problems.

  • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop, and implement solutions associated with incident tickets and requirements.

  • Duties include examining customer problems and implementing appropriate corrective action to initiate a repair or return.

  • Analyze recurring problems, annotating, and initiates solutions for preventing re-occurrence.

  • Work with systems and network engineers in implementing enterprise wide systems and technologies.

  • Ability to install and troubleshoot workstations, thin clients, applications, printers/scanners, phones, and various other IT equipment.

  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration and end-user support for a Linux environment

  • Basic working knowledge of Linux command line and various Linux operating systems

  • Experience administering and working within a virtualized environment

  • Ability to articulate technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with various levels of stakeholders.

  • Experience working within classified enterprise networks

  • Experience working with ticketing systems (i.e. Jira, ServiceNow, etc)

  • Experience creating technical documentation to include diagrams, both logical and physical

  • Required IAT Certs: one or more of the following: Security+, CASP+ or CISSP

  • Required Vendor Cert: one or more of the following: VMWare, Linux+, or RedHat. If not currently achieved, then must achieve within 6 months of hire

Clearance Required:

  • Active TS/SCI

Preferred:

  • Cloud experience

  • Python Scripting experience

  • Prior military experience
