Robert Half Legal Assistant in Columbia, Maryland

Description

Our client, a well-regarded law firm with a growing Trust & Estates Litigation practice, is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to provide high-level support to attorneys in this area. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in trusts and estates, possess excellent organizational skills, and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal setting. This is a temp to perm position, so the ideal candidate will truly prove themselves in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys within the Trust & Estates group.

  • Prepare, edit, and format a wide range of legal documents, including contracts and agreements.

  • Maintain and organize client files, legal records, and case-related documentation.

  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate deadlines.

  • Track and ensure timely filings and submissions with courts and relevant agencies.

  • Assist with due diligence, document review, and compliance for estate and trust transactions.

  • Prepare and file legal documents with federal and state entities as needed.

  • Handle administrative tasks related to billing, time entry, and expense reporting.

  • Coordinate document execution, including obtaining signatures and notarization.

  • Support internal team meetings by preparing materials and tracking follow-up items.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality around all sensitive client and firm matters.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of legal administrative experience, preferably within a law firm.

  • Prior experience in Trust & Estates law is required.

  • Experience communicating with government agencies is strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma with relevant college coursework or equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.

  • Proactive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
