Robert Half Accounting Manager in Columbia, Maryland

Description

My client is an industry leading, profitable and dynamic real estate company currently hiring for an accounting manager to oversee a portfolio of properties and the work of the accounting staff handling the day-to-day transactions. In this role you will ensure all the historical accounting work is done in accordance with GAAP. You will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting as well as making sure all leases are properly accounted for and recorded appropriately. You must be comfortable in handling the routine accounting work while also being able to research anything more challenging. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial operations of a multi-property portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

  • Manage the internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Collaborate with property managers and asset managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and performance tracking.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic planning and decision-making.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • CPA designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in public accounting, real estate accounting or financial management.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
