Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a System Safety Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join our team supporting Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC). This position would be based in Colorado Springs, CO.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Review and analyze systems, applications, and their interfaces to quickly acquire the system knowledge to understand the design and functionality.
Identify and define the system safety and ESOH requirements to support hardware and software sustainment and new modifications.
Perform detailed evaluation of warehouse operations to ensure compliance with ESOH requirements.
Develop processes and provide ESOH training.
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.
Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.
Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. Conducts safe work procedures training courses.
Some travel may be required to support customer milestone meetings and conduct ESOH analyses & training.
Minimal travel is expected.
Basic Qualifications:
Level 02: Bachelors in Science from an accredited college and 2 years of related experience; OR Masters degree
Level 03: Bachelors in Science from an accredited college and 5 years of related experience; OR 3 years of experience with Masters degree
Active Secret clearance at time of application
Familiarity with safety requirements compliance to MIL-STD, DoDI, and AFMAN standards for program execution
Familiarity with requirements development, system/software architecture, hardware/software design, software code implementation, test, verification and validation
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and customers and work independently
Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
Expertise with MS Office tool suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with MBSE Modeling (Cameo Enterprise Architecture)
Familiarity with Radar systems and operations
Familiarity in Agile methodology (Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
Salary Range: $73,900 - $110,900
Salary Range 2: $91,200 - $136,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
