The Sr. Graphic Designer position exists to generate high-quality design under the direction of the Director of Creative Services. Must be a self-starter who is able to take designs from conception to production. The role involves serving as one of the lead design advisors across the ministry, ensuring brand compliance and assisting with the oversight and organization of brand assets, logos, and images. In addition, the role also involves coming alongside the marketing team to assist with marketing materials and graphic design support. This position requires in-depth knowledge of current graphic design styles and layout techniques. Requires experience executing design/branding projects from conception to production, including digital delivery, brochures and product packaging.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Conceptual Design:
Using the Creative Brief, develop designs that emotionally connect with specified audiences
Collaborates with Marketing Directors/Managers, Video Producers, and Web Producers to design creative collateral
Creates design for campaigns, events, products, and resources produced by Focus on the Family
Design Production:
Creates hero/style guides; assists with creating design processes for teams
Prepares and presents design conceptual development
Searches images for print and digital collateral/image library collection
Manages print and digital collateral projects; archives creative source files on servers
Collaborates with and directs other designers on projects
Adapts and helps implement best practice in production standards application
Design Project Oversight:
Manages all phases of the design project: input session, creative kick-off, execution, presenting to client, final art production, coordinating with print buyers and final delivery
Leverages Aprimo (project management software) to manage projects and timelines (training will be available)
Brand Reinforcement:
Participates in brand identity, image and brand assets audit for organization
Collaborates on the implementation of brand training and guidance along with distribution and management of brand assets/identity system
Coordinates with Brand Strategist and Specialist in application and development of Brand Quick Reference Guide
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Ability to operate as a liaison; to identify needs/opportunities and link resources across the ministry
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
Will have direct interaction with Jr Designers and Specialists to coach and train to solve complex design challenges.

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Communications-related major or equivalent experience
5-7 years of experience working in a design studio, in-house, or creative agency environment
Strong portfolio of completed design projects in a variety of formats
High-proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other software to assist with layouts, revisions, editing photos and vector drawing
Understanding of photography for use in design including art directing/interacting on custom photo shoots
Familiar with prepress techniques and file preparation
Aptitude for learning new software programs
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:
Ability to confidently share and champion ideas and recommendations
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Basic copy writing skills helpful
Photography or digital illustration skills a plus
Ability to make adjustments quickly to meet goals and/or changing circumstances (changed schedules, customer needs, or strategic direction)
Review other designers’ work to ensure high quality
Exceptional analytical ability with logical thought processes
Can work well under time pressure, ability to manage numerous objectives, projects, and/or activities at the same time
Strong planning and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication and facilitation skills
Ability to work with limited supervision - works autonomously with assigned creative team to handle all aspects of projects
Demonstrates ability to, at times, manage project schedules, milestones, and work products without direct authority over project stakeholders

Salary Range: $70,716 to $81,117/hr
