Charter Communications/Spectrum Principal Data Scientist in Colorado Springs, Colorado

JOB SUMMARYResponsible for leading the development of data-driven solutions toCharter's business problems. Utilizes analytical, statistical, andprogramming skills to clean, aggregate, and analyze large data sets andinterpret results. This position requires a strong command of statisticaltechniques and machine learning algorithms, as well as a demonstratedpractical ability to determine where to invest time, synthesize actionablefindings across diverse assignments, and present findings to audiences withdiverse agendas and varying levels of technical expertise.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESActively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance thecustomer experiencePlan and lead the complete analytics life-cycle for problem solving,including: requirements gathering, problem formulation, data grooming,data exploration, model prototyping, model validation, and algorithmproductionalization.Plan effectively to ensure analytics products are flexible, modular, andcontain reusable code base.Identify future technical needs of assigned projects to continue to growcapabilities of organization.Coordinate technical activities across projects and the organizationInteract with various stakeholders to understand their business needs,communicate project status and develop relationships to ensure satisfaction.Utilize experience to anticipate hurdles & recommend solutions in line withbusiness needs.Create and drive project plans to help team achieve defined project goalswithin deadlines; proactively communicate status and escalate issues asneeded.Lead large-scale exploratory data analyses for new data sources or new usesfor existing data sources. Establish links across existing data sources andfind new, interesting data correlations.Responsible for interpretation of results - for both causal inferences andpredictive sensitivity and specificitySynthesize appropriate recommendations for action and changesTeach techniques and explain tools used to a broad set ofbusiness-intelligence, data, and analytics professionals with variedbackgrounds.Exercise thought leadership and discretion in tailoring the tools,approaches, and data used to meet the needs of the particular problem. Leadteams to select, implement, and integrate new technologies into theteam's work process.Deliver results using metrics-driven analysis, and communicating the costsand tradeoffs of ideas to stakeholders and top managementLead and integrate the work of others to produce high quality work products.Mentor and train junior team members and set strategic vision for assignedprojects.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSRequired Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishAdvanced-level skills in one or more scripting, analysis, or ETLlanguages, ability to readily read and adapt others' code, and abilityto rapidly learn new languages or techniquesExpert-level skills and experience with analysis language such as R and/orPython (including relevant packages) in support of advanced analyticsBroad experience and solid theoretical foundation of the properties of themajor families of machine learning models (regression, decision trees,clustering, SVMs, neural networks).Experience with modern machine learning technology and tools in order toproduce model scoring code.Command of advanced mathematical concepts including calculus, PDEs,probability, and statistics, and the ability to independently learn anynecessary additional conceptsStrong synthesis and presentation skillsAbility to communicate results and recommendations to a wide variety ofaudiences including executive leadershipUnderstanding of data architecture, data warehouse and data martsDemonstrated ability and desire to continually expand skill set, and learnfrom and teach othersExperience with other database and data store technologies, such as NoSQL,key-value, columnar, graph, and document.Extensive experience with large data sets and the tools to obtain,transform, and store data on Big Data a
