Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Shift Manager Laboratory in Coatesville, Pennsylvania
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening at our Coatesville operation as a Shift Manager in our Metallurgical Lab , which is part of the Quality department . The Shift Manager will be responsible for supervising the activities of the employees in the Metallurgical Lab including but not limited to activities related to the collection, preparation , and testin g.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Supervise bargaining unit employees in Quality Assurance – Metallurgical Lab.
Monitor activities related to safety and environmental programs.
Coordinate weekly work schedules to efficiently achieve d epartmental KPIs.
Work with Employees, Maintenance, Production Units, and Metallurgists to identify and solve problems.
Review all current standard operating instructions and temporary work instructions .
Report metrics to leadership on employee performance, lab efficiencies, maintenance and equipment status , department expenditures such as labor and training.
Validate testing accuracy by enforcing and reviewing all standard operating procedures/temporary work instructions.
Coordinate and track the processing of r ush material .
Perform other duties as assigned .
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree in a technical or relevant filed
3-5 years of experience within a supervisory or leadership role .
Strong ability to effective ly manage direct employees.
Ability to evaluate problems, correctly focus the resources , and make efficient decisions.
Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess knowledge and experience of the operation of the lab, lab equipment, lab management systems and/or relevant experience .
Previous supervisory or leadership experience with a unionized workforce .
