Requisition Summary The role of Assistant Director, Logistics Operations is a fast-paced leadership role supporting PACCAR's North American logistics and supply chain operations. This position leads North American Logistics Operations including direct management of Corporate Logistics Planners and indirect management of Plant Traffic Managers. This role is responsible for the coordination and management of shipments from PACCAR suppliers into PACCAR manufacturing locations within North America. Responsible for performance monitoring and facilitating communication between suppliers, carriers, and PACCAR business units. The position will work closely across internal business units, Plant Materials, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and ITD to ensure that Logistics objectives at both the Corporate and plant level are being attained. The Assistant Director of Logistics will develop and implement strategies and initiatives allowing assigned team members to achieve transportation cost and service goals. This role will be required to recognize and analyze opportunities in the supply chain and execute strategies to maximize value to PACCAR. This person will also be held accountable for developing and implementing corrective actions to mitigate the impact of any identified service issues including cost, quality or on time delivery. Knowledge of material management practices and system capabilities will be critical. Strong interpersonal skills that promote team building and associate development are required. Job Functions / Responsibilities Manage a team of fourteen logistics professionals, including six plant traffic managers. Manage team of Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed service requirements related to supplier and carrier performance while reducing costs. Develop and implement effective strategies to ensure goal achievement. Develop and maintain positive relationships with Manufacturing Plants, Materials, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Information Technology. Communicate effectively with internal customers, carriers, vendors, team members, and management. Utilize SAP Transportation Management System (TMS) effectively and leverage system capabilities and data when analyzing issues, identifying savings, and problem solving. Responsible for compliance and enforcement of supplier requirements for SAP TMS. Develop and promote a team environment. Responsible for all aspects of team management including associate training, management, mentoring and progression development. Pro-actively anticipate and resolve potential customer service, carrier, and internal group issues. Responsible for managing PACCAR's North American Freight Payment Provider. Skills / Competencies Experience with Just in Time (JIT) Logistics and Transportation Programs. SAP Transportation Management System (S4 HANA) experience preferred. Excellent leadership,planning, organizing, and analytical skills. Ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment. Solid presentation skills including seniorleadership presentations. Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. Estimated travel required is 20-40%. Qualifications 8-10 years of relevant logistics or transportation industry experience Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field required Master's Degree preferred (e.g.: MS, MBA) Demonstrated managerial and leadership experience to accomplish corporate objectives Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint SAP experience preferred.
