Hulcher Services Inc. Field Tech III in Clovis, New Mexico

General Summary:  This is an advanced-level position that aids and assists in performing the necessary duties related to maintaining the yard operations which have been assigned to HRI through the FMP (Fuel Management Program) process used by the client at their railyard facilities as well as the Facilities Maintenance contract.

Positions reporting to this position: No direct reports Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Licensed by a Regulatory Agency in a specific discipline (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Construction)

  • Able to lead and direct a small team to successfully complete assigned tasking

  • Complete complex taskings related to the clients Fuel Management Program including preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairs of pumps, gauges, pipes and valves

  • Completes tasks related to the Facilities Maintenance contract as directed to include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, construction, asphalt, etc.

  • Will perform a wide array of maintenance and construction duties, expected to have problem solving abilities and independent thought processes

  • Expected to preform hard physical labor, move and unload, utilize hand and power tools, pressure washers

  • Work as a team and individually

  • Able to coherently report findings to chain of command and follow instructions

  • Operate pick-ups and small equipment

  • Learns and complies with company policies and procedures, and safety rules

  • Learns hazardous materials handling and precautions

  • Maintains required equipment service records

  • Assures safekeeping and proper usage of company tools

  • On rare occasions, may be required to respond to hazardous material emergencies, environmental remediation call outs, and confined space incidents.

  • Participate in environmental operations and regulatory compliance events for clients

  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS (refers to job, not incumbent):

    COMPANY REQUIRED TRAINING:       

    OSHA 1910.120, Safety Rules, Policy and Practices, Final Rule under subpart H of the Code of Federal Register - protection requirement for workers engaged in hazardous waste operations, including emergency response to hazardous substance incidents involving the handling, processing and transportation of hazardous substances.

    Educational Requirements:  High School graduate or equivalent

    Required Certification/Licensure:  Valid driver’s license required; Class A Commercial Driver’s license preferred

    Experience Requirements:  Experience working in construction, electrical, landscaping, farming or other outdoor occupations is preferred

    Knowledge/ Skills: (qualify level of skill required for this role:  entry, intermediate, advanced)

    This is an advanced level position that requires the ability to work on a team in diverse situations, to understand and follow instructions.  Must be able to use or learn to use tools and equipment, such as but not limited to the following:  pulleys, vises, hand and power tools, mechanic rollers, acetylene tanks, wooden blocks, steel collars/shackles, steel hooks, welding equipment,  grinders, hydraulic jacks, steel chains and cable, portable lights, "come-alongs," tractors, forklifts, flatbed truck, pickup truck, wheel barrow, pumps and generators

    Physical Demands: 

    Periods of extended driving and intense physical labor in extreme conditions caused by weather, terrain, and the hazards of working environmental emergencies

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Hard Hats

  • Safety Glasses

  • Steel-Toed Boots

  • Other safety equipment and personal protective equipment, including respirators as may be warranted by situations and hazardous materials handling

  • Gloves, as needed

  • Hearing protection, when necessary

    VISION DEMANDS DOT REQUIREMENTS: 20/40 Binocular vision in each eye (corrected or uncorrected), color discrimination required

    HEARING DEMANDS DOT REQUIREMENTS: Forced whisper at five feet or average hearing loss not greater than 40 decibels at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without hearing aid.

    CARDIO-VASCULAR DEMANDS: Conditioning for medium physical demand level.  This job is considered manual labor.  Approximate energy requirements 8-9 METS.

    Working Conditions:

  • All Terrains, all weather conditions, temperature extremes

  • Work environment is physically challenging and requires staying alert

  • May include hazardous waste/controlled substance transfer/ remediation requiring wearing of personal protective equipment, following site-specific safety plans.  These tasks may include heavy manual labor under harsh conditions at varying heights and in confined spaces.        

  • Work is outdoors and physically demanding

    On occasion, work may include hazardous waste/controlled substance transfer/remediation requiring wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment, following site specific safety plans and using various powered hand tools.  These tasks may include heavy manual labor under harsh conditions at varying heights and in confined spaces.
