Cleveland Clinic Maintenance Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

As Maintenance Engineer, you will work under the direction of the Facility Manager to:

  • Perform modifications and alterations to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and finishing activities.

  • Complete routine to skilled preventive maintenance and order requests.

  • Document inspections on daily log forms.

  • Maintain buildings.

  • Assist in inventory control and organize and maintain department supplies, parts and materials/spaces.

The ideal future caregiver is someone who:

  • Has three to five years of skilled trade experience or five or more years of general maintenance experience.

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

  • Is eager and willing to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Modifies/alters electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing activities.

  • Completes routine maintenance.

  • Completes work order requests.

  • Does routine inspections of the hospital and completes a daily log form.

  • Assists with hospital inventory and maintains departmental supplies.

  • Will occasionally be required to transport patients to/from the hospital to Main Campus.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Trade school diploma is required with 3 years of experience in general healthcare building maintenance preferred.

  • In lieu of a Trade School diploma, a High School diploma is required along with three years of building trade experience.

  • Must have an understanding of the age-specific developmental stages of patients served by the Hospital and demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages when necessary.

Certifications:

  • Specific trade license/certification and/or specific training through education and/or equivalent on-the-job experience.

  • The license/certification must be renewed annually or as required by the licensing/certification agency.

  • Must participate in continuing education activities as required to maintain license/certification or to keep current in the trade specified.

Work Experience:

  • Trade school diploma is required with 3 years of experience in general healthcare building maintenance preferred.

  • In lieu of a Trade School diploma, a High School diploma is required along with three years of building trade experience.

  • HVAC experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing and other activities that may be physically demanding such as, but not limited to, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and working in confined areas.

  • Must be willing to participate in non-violent intervention training. Must be willing to be trained in and respond to emergency situations involving the operations of the facility.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
