High School ELA Teacher at Promise Academy Long-Term Substitute

About us:

Promise Academy is a public high school located in the downtown area of Cleveland, Ohio. We serve students aged 14-21 that have not been well served in the traditional high school setting. We are seeking a teacher that is passionate about helping young adults attain their high school diploma and equipping them with the skills necessary for their post-high school endeavors. Promise Academy provides individualized learning in a setting that is supportive of students and conducive to learning. We work with students individually and in small groups to ensure academic progress and success.

About the opportunity:

Teachers at Promise Academy:

· Commit to fulfilling the school's vision, mission and core beliefs

· Develop educational relationships with students and design learning plans that allow each student to complete work at a pace that makes sense for them.

· Differentiate instruction, often on a student-by-student basis, that provides the "just in time" information students need to move forward.

· Maintain accurate records of student progress.

· Utilize research-based instructional strategies in planning and lesson delivery.

· Understand the school's Multi-Tiered System of Support and the interventions that we use to mitigate barriers to progress

· Communicate with families of minor students, and directly with adult students, about progress and development.

· Participate in the planning, preparation, and delivery of non-instructional programs and activities (as needed)

· Collaborate with one another for the benefit of the students.

About You:

· Current high school ELA or substitute teaching license

· Bachelor's degree in education or related field

· Experience working in an urban environment

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Technology skills to include Microsoft Office suite, electronic curriculum delivery platforms, and Google suite.

· Knowledge of FERPA and the ability to manage confidential information

· Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Promise Academy is looking for a long-term substitute teacher in ELA hiring immediately Ending June 5th with posibility to be brought on to staff for the 25-26 school year.

• Our instructional model includes 1:1 direct instruction that builds vocabulary and background knowledge.
• Class sizes do not exceed 13 students.
