The Configuration Technician is responsible for performing the pre-configuration of equipment (medium complexity configurations) prior to shipment to customers. The pre-configuration is to be performed in a quality and consistent manner in accordance with documented instructions (written work instructions and quality control documents) in support of ongoing or new customer business. IT devices include PCs, tablets, printers, etc.

Responsibilities:

Follow specific written work instructions to provision, configure, and repair IT devices and otherwise prepare the device for deployment based on customer requirements.

  • Complex kitting of equipment based on customer requirements.

  • Unbox, re-box and process equipment for shipping. 

  • Clean, test, and inspect IT devices. 

  • Work with immediate Supervisor or Lead to resolve high complexity technical issues encountered during IT device processing.

  • Will be expected to resolve low to medium complexity technical issues encountered during device provisioning and configuration.

  • Participate in internal departmental and project meetings.

  • Offer suggestions on improving processes and efficiencies.

  • Other duties as assigned

Key Outcomes of the Position:

  • The Configuration Center Technician will consistently follow documented processes to maintain a high degree of quality in work product and customer satisfaction.  All daily work must be completed in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

  • A High School Diploma or GED, with a minimum of 1 year of experience (preferred) or relevant training that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Valid Driver's License (less than 6 points on license to adhere to insurance requirements).

     Physical Requirements:

The Configuration Technician position involves lifting (up to 60 lbs.), carrying, standing, bending, transporting IT equipment 50% of the time.  The position also involves the occasional use of basic tools (screwdriver), cleaning solutions, tear down and rebuild of IT components.  Finally, the ability to type, work from a computer monitor, communication (written and verbal) and read basic work instructions are a requirements.

  • Team oriented, action oriented, a self-starter with the ability to drive technical issues to completion by following documented procedures or working collaboratively with customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities of low complexity.

  • Aptitude to learn various IT disciplines at a moderately complex level.

  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic required.

Qualifications:

The physical requirements of this job include frequent sitting with regular stooping/crouching walking, standing, pushing/pulling, carrying, lifting up to 60lbs., grasping, reaching, and clarity of vision.  The mental requirements of the job include general intelligence, motor coordination skills, coordination of the hands, eyes and feet, verbal intelligence, and number intelligence.  The workplace environmental conditions are typically that of a temperature controlled and clean office setting.  Regular driving to other office or customer locations may be required.
