Service Source Program Assistant -Interpreting and Deaf Services (Part-Time, Hybrid) in Clearwater, Florida

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting Interpreting and Deaf Services department manager with development and maintenance of appropriate automated records and documentation for VR staff interpreters and interpreting assignments. This is a Part-Time, Hybrid (in-office and remote) position. Candidate should be located in or around the Clearwater area.

Primary Duties

  • Assists with the receiving, reviewing, and tracking of monthly reports

  • Assists with coordination of travel, hotels, expense reports and interpreting assignments

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of business process automation systems for invoicing and billing of interpreting assignments for data collection and reporting.

  • Assists with the instruction of staff on the use of business process automation systems

  • Assists with the maintenance of quality assurance, making phone calls, sending quality assurance surveys, and confirmation/follow up emails

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend community deaf and/or interpreting events on occasion for the purpose of networking

  • Assists with the maintenance of demographics and quantitative data of people served

  • Assists the staff interpreters and manager with tracking of interpreter CEU credits and keeping necessary certifications up to date

  • Assist with maintenance of the VR interpreting assignment database to ensure all monthly and quarterly deliverables are appropriately met

  • Report, in writing, any situation that may have any substantial impact on ServiceSource

  • Comply with all ServiceSource policies and procedures

  • Maintain and demonstrate a positive, professional attitude at the workplace and while representing the organization in the general public.

  • Assist the organization with annual and strategic planning

  • Review forms and reports, and confer with management and users about format, distribution, purpose, and to identify problems or improvements

  • Must maintain strictest confidentiality of information relating to consumer issues and/or assignments

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as well as community committees and councils

  • Enter and maintain data in the ServiceSource database accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with the ServiceSource Service Delivery Manual

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s )

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required

  • A valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel is required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR)

  • 1-2 years of general administrative work experience preferred

  • Knowledge of and experience with general purpose programming languages required

  • Knowledge and understanding of business process automation preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) required

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of American Sign Language and manually coded English

  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing VR programs

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws that affect the provisions of sign language interpreting services

  • Knowledge of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and their Code of Professional Conduct and other professional mandates

  • Skill in the use of adaptive technology as used by individuals who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, and DeafBlind

  • Skill in the use and development of database systems for the purpose of maintaining VR contractual records

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of general office procedures

  • Knowledge and experience in handling office routines including preparing special documents and reports involving confidential information

  • Knowledge and experience relative to common office practices and procedures including intermediate computer skills and general office equipment.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Teams, Forms, and Outlook

  • Ability to keep accurate records of policies and procedures

  • Ability to follow written and oral directions

  • Demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated; decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills

  • Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple responsibilities

  • Ability to work with a variety of consumers and professional groups

  • Capable of expanding skill-base through appropriate training

  • Basic knowledge of the independent living philosophy, movement, disability culture and disability-related issues

  • Reading comprehension skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to function as a team player

  • Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality of information relating to consumer files

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills for working with people with disabilities

  • Facilitation and presentation skills

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

The employee in this position has a hybrid work schedule, where work from home is optional. One day per week in office is required.
