Job Summary
The Medical Staff Credentialing Clerk provides administrative support to the Medical Staff Services department, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of credentialing and re-credentialing applications for healthcare providers. This role collaborates with medical staff, licensing agencies, and insurance carriers to maintain up-to-date and compliant records. The Medical Staff Credentialing Clerk ensures accurate communication and coordination with medical staff, administration, and facility associates while handling sensitive and confidential information.
Essential Functions
Processes credentialing and re-credentialing applications for healthcare providers, verifying required documentation and compliance with policies.
Updates and maintains records for licenses, insurance, DEA registrations, and certifications, ensuring ongoing compliance for all providers.
Communicates with medical office staff, licensing agencies, and insurance carriers to complete verifications and obtain required documentation.
Provides administrative support to Medical Staff Officers, Department Chairs, and Committee Chairs, handling materials of a sensitive and confidential nature.
Maintains calendars, schedules meetings, and distributes notices and reminders for medical staff meetings across assigned facilities.
Facilitates communication and coordination with medical staff, administration, and all facility associates to ensure smooth operations.
Orders and manages office supplies for the department to support daily operational needs.
Assists in the orientation of students rotating with medical staff, ensuring effective scheduling and communication.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred
0-2 years of experience in credentialing, administrative support, or a related role required
2-4 years of experience in credentialing or administrative support in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and credentialing software.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
