This position provides examination and preliminary diagnosis for individuals who are the subject of a mental hygiene proceedings with the goal of determining if they suffer from mental illness and/or addiction, and whether they present an immediate danger to themselves or others. This evaluation will be presented at a mental hygiene hearing and will function as a recommendation to the court as to the disposition of the respondent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Master's Degree Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology. 2. WV Licensure in field of study, which permits practicing psychotherapy and specifically meets guidelines for commercial payors: LGSW, LCSW or LICSW or a temporary Social Work permit and must obtain permanent licensure within the first six months of employment; OR LPC or provisional licensure certificate; OR Supervised-Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist; OR Nurse Practitioner with Advanced Certification in psychiatric nursing. *NOTE: Non-independently licensed therapists must obtain their independent licensure within 3 years of employment 3. West Virginia state and Federal criminal background check required for DHHR WV CARES regulated area

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Advanced certification preferred when applicable. 2. Obtain certification in HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date. EXPERIENCE: 1. Prior experience in a mental health program preferred.

  1. Provide psychosocial assessments for assigned individuals for the purpose of evaluating current mental hygiene status.
  2. Maintain availability for designated on-call periods to provide examinations at short notice.
  3. Complete required documentation within designated timeframe.
  4. Assure safety, health, and well-being of patients.
