Job Title: Technical WriterJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to create comprehensive user manuals for widely fielded handheld multiband, tactical software-defined radios. This role involves working closely with various teams within the organization to produce high-quality documentation that meets customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Generate and modify Operator Manuals, Depot Manuals, and other user documentation in both STD and COTS style.
Develop training materials, including training slides and instruction packages.
Review customer requirements and ensure compliance of technical documentation.
Report project status during team meetings.
Support customer meetings and reviews.
Collaborate with various teams such as Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), PM, EPM, Software Engineers, and System Engineers.
Essential Skills
5+ years of technical writing experience.
Associate degree, BSEE/BSCS, or equivalent.
Experience in technical publication development in accordance with military standards.
Knowledge of XML Coding capable programs, such as Arbortext, to develop technical user documentation.
Proficient in using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with Windchill (PLM).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with writing Operator & Field Level Maintenance Manuals for DoD.
Experience with Visio is a plus.
Strong analytical skills in military-style technical writing.
Experience with IADS4 compliance development of technical publications.
Experience with developing and formatting Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documents for delivery to the customer.
Familiarity with product lifecycle management tools for deliverable reviews and release, Windchill (PLM) preferred.
ILS experience.
Work Environment
The position is set in a heavy engineering design and manufacturing environment where all products are designed and manufactured in-house. This role is part of the Integrated Logistics Team, which focuses on user documentation, warranties, sustainability, reliability calculations, and ensuring design expectations without failures.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
