Description

The QC Inspector is responsible for the inspection of incoming parts from suppliers and those machined in-house, to the print specifications furnished by engineering through the use of the following tools: calipers, micrometers, bore gages, super-mics, comparator, hardness tester, height gages and indicators, thread gages, surface plate methods, and durometer gages.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Inspect of incoming parts for quality control.

· In process inspection of machine shop parts

· Complete First Piece Inspections.

· Complete inspection of engineering prototypes for quality control.

· Initiate and issue Notice (DMRs) for nonconforming parts and products

· Maintain required documentation for quality tool and system compliance.

· Designate part status accordingly (accept or reject based on inspection and specifications) in company ERP system.

· Determine systematic and best practice for inspection methods

· Distinguish, prepare and present inspection reports with technical details as to the acceptance or rejection circumstances.

· Provide technical troubleshooting guidance to machine shop and production areas with competence and data driven information; Determine, document and investigate inline rejections

· Maintain calibration database of thread gages and designated inspection tools

· Calibrate measurement equipment for quality control reliability.

· Communicate status updates to the Quality, Supply Chain and Vendors with findings and corrective action recommendations.

Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Must be able to read Engineering drawings, specs, blueprints, documents, and manuals.

· Must have strong proficiency of GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

· Must be able to program and use the CMM (coordinate measuring machine)

· Minimum Associates Degree in Engineering/Industrial Technology or 7 years’ experience working in an industrial setting performing inspections

· Computer proficiency/experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe DC

· Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to multi-task and be highly organized and motivated

· High proficient in using all of the following tools: calipers, micrometers, bore gages, super-mics, comparator, hardness tester,

· height gages and indicators, thread gages, surface plate methods, and durometer gages

· Experienced with ISO 9001:2015, or other quality systems.
