Description

The Operator (Dusenberry) converts jumbo tape and paper products into individual rolls, including but not limited to computer tape, postage meter tape, kraft paper, and exam table paper. This role is responsible for routine maintenance and operation of the Dusenberry roll conversion machine.

Position Accountabilities:

  • Operates Dusenberry roll conversion machine to produce rolled products according to customer specifications and Industries Program standards for quality, production rate and safety.

  • Adjusts machine settings and equipment controls to maximize product quality and output. Monitors machine to ensure tape cores are threaded properly, knives are cutting accurately, and ink trough level is sufficient (where applicable).

  • Applies glue or tape to finished rolls and removes them to be packaged.

  • Identifies equipment problems and malfunctions during production runs. Notifies supervisor of any mistakes, defects, and equipment malfunctions in a timely manner consistent with severity of problem.

  • Performs daily cleaning of machine.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications: (including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses, certifications, and other characteristics)

  • Previous slitting, fabricating, converting, or other large machine operation experience preferred

  • Must be able to work cooperatively in a team, communicate effectively, and carry out simple instructions

  • Must have a positive attitude and sense of humor

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to reach, twist at waist, stoop, and kneel

  • Must be able to lift up to 85 lbs occasionally with the assistance of another team member

  • Must be able to work in a standing position throughout the work shift

Work Environment:

  • Indoor, climate-controlled, industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to high levels of noise. Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, oils, cleaning fluids, blades, and other hazardous materials.

  • In accordance with CABVI’s Hearing Conservation Program and OSHA’s standards for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), approved hearing protection must be worn at all times while in the tape and paper room with the exception of break and meal periods.
