Job Summary
L&B is the industry leader in planning the world’s busiest and most complex airports. Our expertise in airfield and airspace planning encompasses both the physical layout of runways, taxiways, and aircraft ramp areas, as well as improvements in operational procedures that maximize performance while minimizing capital and operational costs.
Our team is highly experienced in the optimization and development of airfield and airspace systems when:
• Improving operational efficiency and capability
• Increasing capacity
• Managing and reducing delays
• Ensuring compliance with design and safety standards
• Complying with changing technical requirements
The airfield/airspace team often utilizes fast-time simulations for demand and capacity analyses, alternatives evaluations, benefit-cost analyses, and construction programming.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Job Description
Lead and conduct planning studies and analyze airport facilities and operations
Simulate airfield and airspace operations including runways, taxiways, and gates using TAAM software
Analyze simulation modeling input and output data sets
Analyze flight schedules, study airport fleet mixes, and optimize aircraft gate management systems
Participate in data collection and survey assignments
Coordinate and write task analysis results and reports
Assist in preparing project work scopes and schedules
Engage client staff, attend client meetings/presentations, and establish positive relationships
Train junior staff in simulation modeling tools and techniques
Qualifications
7-10 years of experience in airfield/airspace planning and simulation, with extensive experience using TAAM software (AirTop experience is a plus)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills using tools such as Excel, Tableau, etc.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, and/or GIS preferred
Knowledge of programming (Python, R, etc.) preferred
Knowledge and interest in the aviation industry and airport operations
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, planning, aviation, business, operations research, or related fields is an asset
Location
- Preferably based in one of our offices across the US. Remote work from home is also an option for the right candidate.
Travel Expectations
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the year to airport clients and L&B’s U.S. and overseas offices
