System One Environmental Manager in Chillicothe, Ohio

We are seeking an experienced and driven Environmental Manager to join our client's team. This is a 100% onsite, direct hire (permanent) role.

Role

The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing environmental stewardship and compliance for the operations as required by regulations, permit conditions, and company policy. Develop and/or maintain policies, programs and processes moving the organization to a higher level of compliance and performance.

Accountabilities

  • Manage environmental compliance (including, but not limited to air, solid waste, water and ground water).

  • Provide oversight for all required reporting, training, permit compliance and plan development.

  • Manage the residuals programs, including interfacing with OEPA, land application companies and regulatory reporting.

  • Manage the environmental and product stewardship team. Serve as a member of the Environmental, Health and Safety group, including off-hours and weekend coverage.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing operations on matters pertaining to environmental systems and regulatory compliance. Work closely with operations, leadership, industry counterparts and regulatory agencies.

  • Develop and/or implement policies, programs, and processes to ensure sustainable compliance, continuous improvement and excellence.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing operations on all matters pertaining to environmental systems, product stewardship and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop and implement environmental and product stewardship programs, including all compliance-related obligations, pollution prevention initiatives and strategic programs to ensure the operations is prepared for future regulatory requirements and support the operations in achieving environmental and product stewardship objectives and targets.

    Qualifications and Requirements

  • BS and/or MS in an engineering field.

  • Ten to fifteen (10-15) years environmental experience in a manufacturing environment desired, pulp and paper industry experience preferred.

  • Experience in environmental issues and technical subjects, ranging from air to water/ground water to hazardous waste.

  • Strong working knowledge of safety issues and requirements.

  • Ability to grow into and assume EHS Director role within two-three years.

  • Strong management and leadership skills.

  • Working knowledge of product stewardship requirements and obligations.

  • Proven technical resource for regulatory compliance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications, negotiating and influencing and the ability to communicate effectively on complicated technical issues with diverse groups (legal, regulatory agencies, community groups).

  • Computer knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, as well as ability to learn multiple databases.
