Job Description:

This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide outstanding foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. The Senior Technical Product Manager, Restaurant Infrastructure Business Office, reports to the Senior Director of Restaurant Infrastructure & Operations. This role will be responsible for developing relationships with our customers and partners to understand their needs, assist with restaurant infrastructure upgrade and adoption planning, and drive continuous evolution of the comprehensive Restaurant Infrastructure & Operations offering. This individual provides internal team governance to ensure team priorities align with the overall team strategy. This role will be instrumental in implementing the team vision of locally relevant and globally consistent restaurant infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help craft the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services for the entire McDonalds environment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Create and participate in forums to ensure timely two-way communication between the Restaurant Infrastructure & Operations (RIO) team and markets, business units, and other cross-functional teams. Identify and address opportunities to improve communication.

  • Develop deep understanding of all aspects of the RIO platforms and capabilities offering, including global standards and prerequisites for adoption.

  • Maintain RIO standards documentation and playbooks with input from RIO team leaders; provide mentorship and assistance to markets as they adopt RIO standards (hardware, platforms, other capabilities). In the near term, assist markets with developing plans to address infrastructure prerequisites for deployment of a major POS system upgrade.

  • Conduct market-level restaurant infrastructure standards compliance analysis and proactively partner with market teams to define and implement adoption roadmaps.

  • Own and manage the RIO team's intake process for general RIO inquiries and ad-hoc requests.

  • Maintain and drive content strategy for the RIO team’s intranet site, including expansion of content to include updates on key initiatives and access to self-service tools.

  • Continuously solicit feedback and evaluate RIO performance metrics to find opportunities for the RIO team to deliver faster, better, more efficient solutions for our customers.

  • Own and maintain a rolling 3-year RIO roadmap, sequenced to align with overall RIO strategy. Define and manage goal setting and tracking activities across RIO teams, to enable reporting of progress against goals and roadmap utilizing Jira data.

  • Work with the RIO leadership team to define internal performance metrics for measuring progress against RIO objectives, high-priority initiatives, and operational activities. Align team performance metrics with goals and activities to project anticipated improvements over time.

  • Design and implement new dashboard reporting to track key team performance metrics that advise data-driven decision making.

  • Assist RIO leadership with business case development for new initiatives, insourcing proposals, etc.

  • Track and report on the RIO budget every month on behalf of the RIO leadership team. Identify and manage budget risks and favorability in alignment with RIO objectives and priorities. Partner with RIO leadership to monitor holistic costs to deliver RIO services.

  • Oversee the process for effectively managing RIO contracts to ensure contract owners approve invoices and initiate renewals, where appropriate, with adequate lead time. Partner with RIO leadership to assess opportunities for consolidation and optimization of managed services.

  • Manage team training, volunteering, and certification targets. Identify and share training opportunities for ongoing skills development.

  • Facilitate monthly RIO all-hands meetings.

  • Decompose sophisticated problems into approachable challenges. Consistently bring strong, data-driven business, and technical judgment to decisions.

· Demonstrated experience with data analysis; defining, delivering, and leveraging dashboards and reports for meaningful, actionable insights.

· Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop product strategy and business cases, and measure success.

· Strong written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in easy-to-understand business friendly language.

· Understand customer centricity, and lead products with that mindset.

· Experience partnering with stakeholders across complex global organizations.

· Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

· Working knowledge of software development, agile methodologies, infrastructure platforms, and/or technology hardware (e.g. servers, monitors, receipt printers).

· Hands-on experience developing business cases, multi-year roadmaps, and presentations for senior leadership audiences.

· Demonstrated ability to manage initiatives from an unclear problem statement, driving clarity, understanding, and opportunity assessment, managing trade-offs and evaluating potential concepts with internal and external partners using design thinking and agile principles.

· Experience working with engineering teams to develop and deliver high-quality products.

· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

· Passion for emerging technology and real-world applications.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.

· Experience with Microsoft Power BI.

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated ability to manage and navigate to drive results within a globally distributed organization.

· Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and roadmap tools such as Jira Product Discovery.

· Experience and working knowledge of hardware, such as servers and peripheral devices.

· Experience working in a distributed retail, hospitality, or similar physical technology environment.

· Experience building and managing infrastructure platforms that address global complexities, meet security standards, and support differences between markets/regions.

· Experience managing P&L of a program and developing/managing financial forecasts to communicate ROI and spend rate.

· Experience working in a leadership role in an agile product development environment: participating and leading agile ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking metrics of multiple teams, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc).

· Experience leading teams of employees on large-scale system implementations.

 

Experience

· 8+ years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree or 6+ years relevant work experience and a Master’s degree.

· 1+ years working with restaurant or retail hardware solutions and/or infrastructure platforms.

· 3+ years of experience in leadership roles, including leading teams of employees.

· Experience leading technical teams to deliver a strategically important product and/or a suite of products.

· Experience influencing senior executives (VPs, SVP, CxO), and setting expectations for major cross-functional initiatives.
