Join Wabtec's Advanced Technologies group as a Senior Industrial Experience Designer. Help us transform transportation across freight, transit, mining, and marine sectors. You'll collaborate with industry leaders and innovators while developing our own cutting-edge solutions for the industry.

What do we want to know about you?

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Design or Product Design

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in discovery, product design, and visual communication

  • Proven track record of translating user insights into successful, new product concepts

  • Experience in industrial operations, transportation, robotics, automation, or logistics

  • Proficiency with human factors and user-centered research methodologies

  • Experience in synthesizing complex data and user insights to inform product strategy

  • Excellence in CAD software (e.g. Rhino3D, SolidWorks, or similar) and rendering tools (e.g., KeyShot)

  • Experience in designing for manufacturability and collaborating with manufacturing teams

  • Understanding of UI/UX principles and HMI guidelines for industrial environments

  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles with a proficiency in prototyping techniques.

  • The capacity to organize and present information visually, enhancing understanding and retention of complex concepts.

  • Ability to align design solutions with business objectives and articulate their value

  • Proficiency in design thinking principles and translating insights into actionable deliverables

  • Work collaboratively to drive design thinking and innovation within the organization

  • Detail-oriented approach to design and communication

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a talent for influencing stakeholders

What will your typical day look like?

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead discovery processes, conducting design research to understand customer and user needs across various transportation sectors

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and facilitate workshops to develop customer and user-driven insights, ensuring solutions align with both user needs and business objectives

  • Create innovative product designs that challenge industry norms, using CAD software and rendering tools to develop detailed designs and prototypes

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, refining product requirements for effective production handover

  • Develop technical documentation and specifications to support the manufacturing process

  • Develop and implement creative strategies to communicate our innovation portfolio's value and impact to diverse stakeholders across various channels

  • Craft compelling narratives and visual storytelling materials that effectively convey complex technological concepts

  • Design and present engaging prototypes, exhibition materials, and content to enhance the group’s visibility

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$67,400.00-$96,000.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com . Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
